We have revised our house schedule again!!!!

October 8, 2008

Dear Infant Parents,

Can you believe that the first six weeks of school is already over?! It has been an awesome and challenging time for us and for your babies. In just this short time, we have been able to share some amazing first steps with your little ones. We have seen them sitting up, crawling, rolling, and walking. We have seen new teeth; we have even had one friend move up to an older class.

We want you to know how honored we feel to be able to share these moments with your families. Every day brings exciting and sometimes scary new adventures.

During the next six weeks we would like to continue to work on our schedules. As you might imagine with seven babies, it is very important to have structure and routine. Our goal for our class is to develop a schedule that will meet the needs of our children as a group.

Currently, we have revised our house schedule to include group times (books, music, action songs and rhymes,) free play, outside time, nap, meal and diaper time. Our goal is to provide the same routine each day so that the children can be comfortable in our environment. It is only when they are comfortable that their brains can absorb and learn new things!

We thank you in advance for understanding that each family may have to modify their home schedule to match our school schedule. We know that they may get off schedule when they are ill or on vacation. Ultimately, we are trying to schedule our day like the next older class, room 4.

We want your child to have the best experience while they are at  Amarillo Montessori Academy. Please feel free to call us if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Infant House Teachers: Sandra Jefferson, Wanda McCown, and Megan Moore

Naptime at the Infant House

Nap time @ the Infant House

Some people think that babies sleep a lot. That is a huge misconception! We are lucky if our friends sleep 30-45 minutes. Our babies rang in ages from 13 mos. to 7 mos. so they are past the sleeping age. They are very active and getting more mobile by the minute. We really appreciate you helping your child get to sleep on their own at home and hope that you continue to work on that. In the past we have had a hard time getting babies to sleep and this has been an easier year. There are days when it feels like we don't have 5 min. to go to the bathroom before a baby is awake, and then when they wake up, they usually wake up at least one other friend. I hope you know that we are working hard to take the best care of your babies.
We are very busy. We have lots of fun , but napping does not account for much of that time.
Please join me next week with more words from the Infant House.

We will talk about our revised schedule

Dear Parents,
We have had a very busy week at the I.H. A lot of our babies are getting new teeth and as you know teething babies are not as happy as they usually are. Pollen count is also at its highest, so our allergies are suffering. That makes friends upset and uncomfortable. It has been somewhat of a struggle keeping them happy, and then when one baby is sad and crying, their friends feel their pain. We get a house full of sympathy cries. Including the teachers at times. lol
Our friend Orpita’s time to help get things settled is over, so it is up to Ms Wanda and I to teach and take care of the babies. Things are expected to get better, and we are very thankful that we did have that extra set of hands to hold babies.
We are working to teach and emphasize the color RED, and teach the names of the body parts.
Join me next week for more words from the I. H.
Love, Sandra and the I. H. T.
